This section provides guidance for Editors of Fungal Diversity in carrying out editorial responsibilities, including manuscript evaluation, peer-review oversight, and maintenance of high ethical and scholarly standards.
Editorial practices are guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Editorial Process
Editors are expected to follow the journal's Editor Guide and established editorial procedures to ensure a fair, transparent, and efficient peer-review process.
- Assess manuscripts according to scope, originality, scientific quality, and methodological rigor.
- Select suitable reviewers and evaluate reviewer reports carefully.
- Communicate editorial decisions clearly and promptly.
Ethical Responsibilities
- Maintain editorial independence and impartiality.
- Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal.
- Declare potential conflicts of interest.
- Ensure editor-authored submissions are handled independently.
Confidentiality
All submitted manuscripts and peer-review materials are confidential. Editors must not disclose submission information beyond those directly involved in the editorial and peer-review process.
Editors must not upload confidential manuscript files, peer-review reports, figures, or unpublished materials to external tools that may store or reuse content.
Misconduct and Corrections
Suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, or duplicate publication, should be investigated with the editorial office and BioAcademic Press following COPE guidelines.
When substantial errors or ethical concerns are identified in published articles, Editors should work with the publisher to issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate.
