Instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts to Fungal Diversity.

Overview

Fungal Diversity is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing high-quality research on fungi and related disciplines. Authors should follow these guidelines to ensure smooth processing and timely publication.

Article Types

  • Original Research Articles: Full reports presenting novel research findings.
  • Taxonomic Monographs and Revisions: Comprehensive treatments or systematic revisions of taxa.
  • Review and Perspective Papers: Critical overviews or expert opinions on current topics.
  • Brief Communications: Brief reports of significant findings requiring rapid dissemination.
  • Data Papers: Datasets, checklists, inventories, genome resources, or other structured data contributions.

Format and Style

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in clear and concise English.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced, with 2.5 cm margins.
  • Figures and tables should be embedded in the manuscript and provided as separate high-resolution files.

Manuscript Structure

  • Title page with manuscript title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author contact information.
  • Abstract of 200-250 words and 5-7 keywords.
  • Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and optional Conclusions.
  • Electronic supplementary information where applicable.
  • Author contributions, acknowledgments, conflict of interest statement, and data availability statement.

References

  • Use author-year citations in text.
  • Include only cited, published, or accepted works in the reference list.
  • Alphabetize references by first author and include DOIs where available.
  • Avoid excessive self-citation, citation manipulation, or biased geographic selection.

Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Material

  • Figures should be high-resolution, using TIFF, JPEG, or PNG formats.
  • Tables should be editable, not embedded as images.
  • Captions should be placed below figures and above tables.
  • Supplementary datasets, videos, or protocols may be submitted as supplementary files.
  • DNA or RNA sequences should be deposited in GenBank; alignments should be submitted to TreeBASE where applicable.

Production and Publication

  • Submit manuscripts via the journal's online submission system.
  • Declare funding sources, ethical approvals, and conflicts of interest.
  • All submissions undergo single-blind peer review.
  • Authors will receive page proofs before publication.
  • Accepted articles are published open access under a CC BY license.

Author Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation, including writing or language editing, data analysis, statistical or bioinformatic analyses, and figure or graphical preparation.

The disclosure must include the AI tool name, version or date of use, and the purpose and extent of use. AI tools must not be listed as authors.

Handling Misconduct

If misconduct is suspected, Fungal Diversity and the publisher will investigate following COPE guidelines. Actions may include rejection before publication, or corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions after publication.

By submitting to Fungal Diversity, authors agree to these ethical responsibilities and confirm that their work is conducted and reported according to professional standards.
